It's May 20th and two years ago today, Sheena, Sabrina, Doug and I were driving around Millarville, Alberta looking for a farmers market and passing time while Sheena was in labour. This year, we celebrated Rebecca's birthday in Belleisle Creek with some new additions and Nana and Papa. The theme was 'Curious George' or as Rebecca refers to it, "Bob and Daddy" (Bob is her stuffed animal (Curious George) and Daddy, well). Rebecca surprisingly loved the M&Ms rather than the cake and loved playing with her cousin Ocean and sister Abigail. Thanks to everyone for the gifts, it was a fun time. Oh and apparently Rebecca likes the song Happy Birthday (3mb)... Download Rebecca's Second Birthday
Merry Christmas to all from Moncton! It was Abigail's first Christmas and Rebecca's first Christmas that she played with something more than a ribbon. We had the treat of a real Christmas morning as well, with a 6:15am wake-up call, closely followed by Sheena's excitement over Santa's visit.
Rebecca entertained our morning company with her stepdancing to the Barra MacNeils' "Christmas Ceilidh". We've posted the video here Download Rebecca the Christmas Stepdancer
and on youtube. It is priceless!
At last, on Friday our house was delivered and set on our foundation! Sheena was able to attend and see the action up close. Everything went without a hitch despite the -30 weather. More photos to come of the finish work.
Our foundation is done, we're starting a one week countdown until the house arrives... on Nov 24th. Wish for good weather and a quick delivery. The next photos you'll see are of the crane dropping off the house!
In the photos above, you'll see the interior walls and drainage tile under the concrete floor (not poured before these photos), as well as the well and water piping.
The foundation is going in this week. We had a bit of a delay due to wet weather, but it should be poured by the weekend. Here's some photos. We're hoping to move in by the end of November. Lets hope for good weather!

Beth MacDonald was born at the Moncton Hospital on October 2nd, 2008 at 10:35 pm, weighing 8 pounds, 9 ounces. Sheena spent a couple of days in prelabour and was 12 days overdue, but once she was induced, things went fairly quickly. Throughout our stay, we were impressed with the care provided by the staff of the hospital. Maternity nurses are a godsend!
Abigail loves being bundled up and was wearing a knitted hat for most of her life so far! Sheena is doing great after the birth and is enjoying some quiet but busy time with family and friends.
Abigail had her homecoming today and met her older sister Rebecca for the first time. Rebecca was excited to see her sister, and we watched in surprise as she tried to pick up Abigail from her car seat by the feet. Rebecca soon realized that her sister was a living thing and stepped back in amazement. She now stares intently at Abigail and touches her gently (thanks to all the trial and error with the cat).
Thanks to everyone for all the congratulations, we'll keep posting pictures from the next few days.
We have a driveway now at our land in Belleisle Creek, a culvert and quite a bit of area cleared. Sheena and I were able to stake out the land today for where we want our house. With a foundation being poured by next week, we should have the house delivered in a couple of weeks. Sounds funny...'delivered'.
We've also decided to install a geothermal heat-pump (ground closed loop) system, which will be coiled in our backyard. Heat-Pumps are one of the more environmentally friendly and efficient heating and cooling systems offered. Heat-Pumps act as a heat source, air conditioner and dehumidifer for your home. You can also have it heat up your hot water as well. It took us a while to decide, but here's some good readingif you're interested in something similar. For smaller houses, it can be worth your while. With an R2000 house rating, home builders with heat pump systems are also eligible for government grants in New Brunswick.
